Sometimes Brendan and I look at each other and wonder if we are crazy, but we do know this is where God placed us.
5 months of us learning to run a hotel/retreat, welcoming missionaries and pastors in need of refreshment, additions being added to our home. settling our kids into Mexican school, all of us battling to learn Spanish, plus bringing a puppy into the mix. Needless to say life has been full! But i wouldn't change it for the world.
Its a stunning place to live, the sun shines every day, the waves roll in, the people are so friendly, but wow there are some hard bits. Trying to get things done is interesting, all in Mexican time. This is okay, but just knowing where to go for basic things that would take 15 minutes in NZ can literally take half a day here. Admin is tough, setting up new reservation systems for the hotel and retreat, websites, schedules and the list goes on, mostly n Spanish of course! So if you have a passion for admin we'd love to hear from you! Seriously.
Yes its real life here for us, but we have so much to be so thankful for! Having all our 4 kids here with us over Christmas (Max returns to finish university in NZ shortly), a stunning place to call home, people so patient with our ridiculously slow Spanish, a super friendly local church, a job for Toby in the best taco restaurant, and people who cheer us on from all over the world!
