People Projects and Plans
What a year its turning out to be. Thanks to our great friends Pastor Jimmy and Sabrina from Colorado, we got to share about the Olas Retreat with 200 pastors. Since then we have had many more pastors and missionaries coming here for rest and refreshment. Summer has hit, but still a great season to get projects done with some fabulous volunteers we have had come. We have some new YWAM staff coming, along with finishing the container kitchen on the base. This is thanks to our home ...
July 17, 2024Progress is happening at YWAM Cabo
The bare plot of dessert land that was gifted to YWAM Cabo is now being developed to be used as intended. We now have 6 glamping tents pitched, 2 containers partly converted to serve as a kitchen and one as an office and a thatched palapa being built!...
December 9, 2023Team work makes the dream work!!!
We have had the incredible Naomi from NZ with us for the past month. She came to help and we seriously cant believe what high capacity this girl has! I had the privileges to work alongside her while she updated photographs of the hotel, our websites, systems and basically was the angel we needed. We all miss her a lot, particularly her daily surf buddy Demi. This has made us realize how special it is having new people come and be part of our journey, but its really hard saying g...
December 18, 2022Hosting Missionaries and Pastors
We have had the busiest, happiest time hosting missionaries and pastors this past month. Finally Olas Retreat is being used how we feel God intended. Its a relaxing place and people are really appreciating time away to truly slow down, and often make big decisions with their next steps. We have also hosted a fantastic outreach team from YWAM Kona Ships for the month of August. They really helped us build community here by volunteering in some local projects, ranging from a turt...
September 2, 2022Gods made us unique...
Summer has arrived and so have the missionaries. We are so happy we are getting to host missionaries and pastors from near and far. We also had our lovely friends the Pyne family come and visit. Such a treat for our whole family! What we are noticing is that every person we get to host and connect with teaches us something new. It might be learning from the Christian Surfers we had stay about how to disciple people and support them well. Or a great...
July 12, 2022Our crazy life ......
Sometimes Brendan and I look at each other and wonder if we are crazy, but we do know this is where God placed us. 5 months of us learning to run a hotel/retreat, welcoming missionaries and pastors in need of refreshment, additions being added to our home. settling our kids into Mexican school, all of us battling to learn Spanish, plus bringing a puppy into the mix. Needless to say life has been full! But i wouldn't change it for the world. Its a stu...
February 11, 2022ROUGHING IT
Yes our family has given up comfy beds and we are 3/4 thru leading an 8 week outreach for a team of 7 YWAM students. We have traveled by cattle truck, river boat, bus, ferry, and the back of utes. Sleeping on floors with ants or worse to keep us company has not always been easy, but it’s an unforgettable experience. We’re super grateful we have got to be part of incredible ministries, visiting orphanages, feeding people who live on the rubbish dump, connecting with homeless peo...
August 11, 2021Back in Mexico
We're back in Mexico. After an easy flight and great border crossing we are settling back into life at YWAM SDB in Tijuana. Things are busy here, teams are coming mainly from the States for weekend house builds to provide much needed homes for Mexican families. Outreach teams are also coming and plenty of ministries have started up again. The kids went to the skateboard ministry yesterday, which as you might expect didnt take much to convince them to go. B and I are about to st...

March 5, 2021Back to the Future
We are back in New Zealand, well sort of, we are actually staying in a quarantine hotel for 2 weeks as part of the NZ government's Covid-19 measures. Cooper and I sat down one night and watched the great 80's movie "Back to the Future", it was so great, I loved it, it bought back such fun memories of how life was in the 80's. I was reminded during the film of how in life at times we go back in order to go forward. It is a little like that for us during this season... we have co...
